In this expanded role, you'll not only drive our back-end development but also architect and scale our cloud infrastructure on AWS, leveraging Terraform to ensure best-in-class security and reliability. The position is a hybrid model with primarily remote work, while requiring on-site presence at least twice a month in Downtown Toronto.

Responsibilities

As a cornerstone of our Development team, your responsibilities will include:

• Leading the development and maintenance of our back-end services in Python, ensuring code quality, security, and scalability.
• Architecting and implementing a secure, resilient, and scalable multi-tenant cloud infrastructure on AWS, transitioning from Azure to AWS with a strategic approach.
• Utilizing Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices, emphasizing automation, security, and maintainability across all cloud infrastructure layers.
• Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to align cloud infrastructure design with application development needs, ensuring seamless CI/CD pipeline integration and application deployment.
• Proactively identifying and implementing optimizations for cloud resource usage, with a focus on cost-efficiency, performance, and security compliance.
• Spearheading incident response and disaster recovery strategies, ensuring robust data protection and minimal downtime.
• Documenting cloud architecture decisions, infrastructure changes, and security protocols, promoting a culture of security awareness and continuous improvement.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

We're looking for candidates with:

• At least 5 years of experience in back-end development, with a strong proficiency in Python and a solid understanding of secure coding practices.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering, with a shift towards AWS expertise, Terraform, and an overarching focus on cloud security.
• Demonstrated ability in designing and managing secure, large-scale, multi-tenant cloud environments, preferably on AWS.
• Comprehensive knowledge of cloud security principles, risk management, compliance standards, and best practices in a cloud-centric ecosystem.
• Familiarity with modern development and cloud infrastructure practices, including DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing and deployment mechanisms.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a keen adaptability to thrive in a fast-evolving technological landscape.
