Summary:

Better Living Health & Community Services has an opening for a _Community Fitness Facilitator_.

This position will be primarily responsible for instructing exercise classes and falls prevention classes for seniors in retirement homes, community churches, condominiums/apartment buildings.

This position reports to the Coordinator, Community Fitness and Falls Prevention.

  • PTA/OTA diploma or degree in Kinesiology or certificate in CanFitPro or other applicable training
  • Standard First/Aid Basic Rescuer Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (C.P.R.) certification
  • Recent related working experience with older adult populations with various conditions (neurological, musculoskeletal, mental health, etc.)
  • Recent instructing experience in group setting classes
  • Knowledge of community resources as an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problemsolving skills
  • Full G Driver's License and access to a vehicle is an asset
  • Successful completion of _Vulnerable Sector Screening _within one month of employment
  • Develop and implement group exercise and falls prevention classes for older adults who are at risk of falling in the community
  • Maximize mobility in areas such as stroke, Parkinson's disease, etc., and manage respiratory and cardiac conditions
  • Collect completed registration forms and waivers and submit them to the Program Coordinator on a monthly basis
  • Complete daily attendance, shift checkin/out, and report new clients through tracking software
  • Complete and report timesheet to the Program Coordinator biweekly
  • Able to work independently and collaborate effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment
  • Participate in quality assurance and peer review processes
  • Communicate actively with the Program Coordinator and participate in the meeting
  • Monitor clients' progress actively and educate physical challenges associated with aging
  • Provide advice on prevention, recurrence, and injury reporting
  • Follow all safety measures and guidelines requirements in each location
  • Ensure maintaining safe program equipment before each usage

Location:
Multi-locations and requires travel.


Salary:
Commensurate with experience.

  • North York, ON M3C 2C3: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
