    Job Description Summary

    We are seeking two (2) enthusiastic, driven, and collaborative coop students to join our Grid Automation business Finance team for an month work term.

    Job Description

    Essential Responsibilities:

    • Support GA Finance Leaders with reporting, tracking, analysis of selling, general and admin costs, headcount and other ad-hoc tasks for the Markham site and Grid Automation North America Region.
    • Prepare order/backlog reporting, adjustments, and analysis for GA NAM region
    • Consolidate and bifurcate data from various sources for stakeholders across the business.
    • Evaluate and make the necessary journal entries to reallocate costs and revenue to appropriate functions and product lines.
    • Complete reporting and analysis to support continuous improvement.
    • Provide analysis and determine revenue/cost of shipment deferrals to comply with US GAAP revenue recognition reporting.
    • Play a crucial role in managing Fixed Assets in Business, maintaining transparency and control through independent verification of items (audit) and tracking financial tags attached to the assets.
    • Support billing quality in the resolution of billing disputes and in managing the Billing Quality dashboard.

    Project/Cyclical Accountabilities:

    Controllership:

    • Audit the accuracy of the operational cycle count programs of inventory used in the Supply Chain.
    • Active participation in the planning and execution in the annual physical inventory count.
    • Reporting of aging of internal receivables and following up with counter parties in Supply Chain or the Commercial Trading Units to settle the invoices.

    Financial Planning & Operations:

    • Reporting variable cost productivity for execution of the Supply Chain Financial Operating Plan. Identifying opportunities to improve execution or reduce poor cost of quality. Leading implementation of the opportunities to reduce the cost footprint.
    • Analyze significant cost pools such as freight and scrap to identify waste, redundancy through root cause analysis of the spend in these pools.
    • Support Operating Plan and operating blueprint as required.

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    • Enrolled in a Commerce or Accounting program, Math and/or Financial Engineering students are encouraged to apply
    • Some previous experience working within finance or accounting
    • Expectation to work on-site at Markham office five days a week. Some weekend and/or holiday work may be required due to financial deadlines

    Desired Characteristics

    • Demonstrates ability to work independently, when applicable.
    • Strong analytics, interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with cross functional teams.
    • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and ability to prioritize tasks.
    • Experience using of data query tools, ERPs, spread sheets and MS Office.
    • Experience dealing with auditors and other financial stakeholders.

    This opportunity is for a period of 8 to 12 months and intended for current students who will be returning to in-class studies upon the completion of the work term, preferably 3rd or 4th year student. It is not open to candidates who will have graduated prior to the start of this position.
