Job Summary:
Financial Policy and Research Consultant is responsible for the research, analysis, development, update and interpretation of the city's financial policies to ensure they are reflective of the City's strategic goals and current practices and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Developing new financial policies or revisions to existing ones by conducting gap analyses, benchmarking and research, stakeholder consultations, collecting and analyzing data, and developing options and recommendations.
- Ensuring financial policies are accurate, adhering to existing legislation and City Bylaws and other policies.
- Conducting indepth and thorough research on municipal finance related topics.
- Preparing concise, accurate, and informative reports and presentations explaining policy recommendations or research outcomes.
- Liaising with multidiscipline professionals in various city departments and providing direction on financial policy matters as required.
- Monitoring and evaluating the implementation and effectiveness of policies, including impact analysis.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- A postsecondary degree in Public Policy, Economics, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Relevant experience in policy analysis and research.
- Indept knowledge and understanding of municipal finance related topics and processes
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders and to explain complex issues in a clear, concise manner.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
Hourly Rate/Salary:
$ $63.63
