Job summary
We're searching for a dynamic leader to plant their roots with us as a Manager, Cultivation.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing all crops in our R&D facility with the goal of delivering quality crops and trials on time with support from our Cultivation team.


You will work closely with the Senior Manager, Cultivation & Operations to support and implement best practices and Standard Operating Procedures as well as manage the environmental, nutrient and IPM strategies at our Coast Facility in Comox BC.

As the Manager, Cultivation you will

  • Managing the Aurora Coast Priva greenhouse operating system to enable smooth and consistent environmental conditions, nutrient and irrigation strategies as well as ensuring seasonal adjustments are made and monitored based on weather conditions.
  • Overseeing the Integrated Pest Management Program and develop strategies for pest and disease management to ensure an effective program.
  • Supporting the Site Scheduling and Programming on a continuous basis related to fine tuning and optimal timing as it relates to crop health.
  • Learn and understand the site trials and programs in order to adapt the growing culture to the goals of the trials.
  • Interpreting media, water and/or plant nutrient analysis to effectively adapt fertigation recipes and/or adjust crop irrigation strategies.
  • Monitoring and enforcing data collection as required by the Senior Leadership as it relates to Crop management and regulatory requirements.
  • Overseeing and responding to greenhouse alarms and report to Senior Leadership in order to facilitate continuous improvements and mitigate risks to the greenhouse structure and crops.
  • Supporting the distribution of plant material to Aurora's network while facilitating production scale trials, initiating new mother stock and ensuring redundancy of key genetics assets.
  • Supporting in the development and writing of SOP's specific to IPM, Growing and Crop maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with other site Cultivation Managers and partners including Global Cultivation calls, trials and other support as required.

  • A bachelor's degree or diploma in Horticulture, Agriculture, Plant Science or related field
  • Proven experience in cannabis cultivation, with a minimum of 3 years in a management and or a peoplemanagement role and a minimum of 5 years in a Grower or Lead Grower position in a greenhouse environment
    _(we would also welcome an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience)

  • Indepth knowledge of cannabis cultivation techniques, plant nutrition, and pest management and experience with commercial plant propagation in a greenhouse environment; _experience with cannabis or hemp propagation and cultivation would be an asset._
  • Experience with scheduling, crop maintenance and shipping of unrooting cuttings for Genetic Stock/Mother Programs.
  • Experience with R&D trials and growing crops in an R&D facility environment is an asset.
  • Experience in multisite collaboration and/or business functions is critical.
  • Proven experience in IPM particularly related to Cannabis and Health Canada regulations.
