- Identify new business opportunities within a prescribed Regional Sales Territory via sourcing and hunting; focus on the Mid Market and non-named National Account target market segments (up to 500 – 999 employees).
- Through direct calling, email and other outreach, identify, qualify, and generate new business opportunities by engaging with Key Decision Makers.
- Complement prospecting and selling efforts with field work such as building walks, lobby events, property management relationships, and in-person meetings.
- Leverage consultative and relationship-building selling techniques to identify current and future connectivity solutions.
- Help Cogent customers and prospects by positioning services for new business.
- Achieve monthly revenue goals by selling into the nation's largest commercial and retail buildings, office parks and professional campuses.
- Previous sales experience (recent experience strongly preferred) with a track record of success is required.
- Ability to identify, qualify and generate new business through extensive prospecting and research.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment with revenue deadlines.
- Working knowledge of computer applications (Microsoft Office) and CRM is a plus.
- A college degree is preferred but not required.

Overview
Cogent Communications is a multinational, Tier 1 facilities-based ISP, publicly traded on the NASDAQ Stock Market under the ticker symbol CCOI. Cogent provides high speed Internet access, private network services, IPv4 address leasing, optical transport services and data center colocation services. The Cogent network is a large, all-optical IP backbone delivering IP services in over 228 markets globally. Cogent offers strong earnings potential with structured tenure pay increases and an uncapped commissions plan, along with a full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, PTO, disability, life insurance, holidays, stock options, and an Employee Assistance Program.
Compensation
[Starting / Initial] Base Salary Pay Range: [$ $38.46 per hour or $40,000 – $80,000 per year].
Commission: Commissions are earned on each sale based on product type: 50% - 150% of one month's MRCs; 1/12 of one-time NRCs; 1/24 of Burst.
[Tenured] Base Salary Pay Range: [$ $48.07 per hour or $40,000 - $100,000 per year] based on achievement of structured tenure-based and performance-based pay increases. Specific offers within the listed pay ranges are determined by factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and business needs.
