    About the role

    Canadian Blood Services (CBS) is looking for a Regular Full-Time Analyst, System III to join our dynamic IT Infrastructure Operations and Delivery Team in Ottawa.

    The work of an Analyst - System III is integral to Canadian Blood Services' role as Canada's Biological Lifeline. In this role, you will provide experience and specialization in highly technical aspects of systems hardware/ software/connectivity in Canadian Blood Services. You will act as a technical resource to Information Technology and Canadian Blood Services, supporting and maintaining the day-to-day operations of Unix/AIX on Power and Window servers and enterprise class hardware.

    Formula for Success

    • Harnessing your strong technical skills, provide support for systems; including designing and implementing standards, supporting hardware/software, including server and storage infrastructure.
    • Utilizing your superior Customer service skills, support end-users via telephone, analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving employee reported problems.
    • Drawing on your expertise in Database Administration, administer and support database systems, including installation, maintenance, configuration ensuring optimal performance as well as efficient utilization and scalability.
    • Leveraging your analytical skills research new technology (Storage Area Networks, Operating Systems, Hardware, etc.), ensuring products will integrate into CBS' systems and providing recommendations.
    • Using your collaborative skills, work with internal teams to advise on optimal operating system, hardware, network, security, development platforms and database software for new systems.
    • Drawing on your attention-to-details skills, review and analyze proposed system changes for impact on application, network, and architectural environments, testing all changes and updating documentation accordingly.
    • Complying with CBS Information Systems and Regulatory standards, follow project management, technology and documentation standards and methodologies for IT projects.

    Desired Education and Skills

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
    • 7-9 years proven experience in technical support and system administration, with a focus on Unix, Windows, and Database Administration.
    • Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems, Windows Server, and database technologies (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server).
    • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Shell, PowerShell) for automation and task automation.
    • Certifications such as CompTIA Linux+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) are a plus.
    • Solid interpersonal skills, establishing collaborative work relationships with clients and colleagues with strong communications skills, both written and oral and good organizational skills are required.
    • Experienced in working within a remotely managed Data Centre environment.

    An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

    What you can expect

    • This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at a Canadian Blood Services location at least 40% of the time/2 days of the week.
    • You will work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day.
