Responsibilities
The incumbent will assist in graphic design for the Division of Housing and Ancillary Services- Primarily support in the design and development of marketing materials, including but not limited print and digital ads, posters, brochures, billboards, videos, website, etc.
- Attend events and assist in capturing visual assets as needed
- Assist in staging and capturing product photography for the food services and the bookstore
- Conduct market research regarding other schools' marketing initiatives, visual presentation
- Review existing marketing initiatives, organize focus group discussion, collect feedback
- Assist in special projects in marketing and communications as required
- The incumbent will take design guidance from the Digital Communication Specialist, and work productively and courteously with other members within the Division
Education:
- Currently attending Western University and returning to Western in the fall 2024 for fulltime studies
- Preferred students enrolled in the program of Visual Arts, or Media and Information Technology (MIT)
Experience:
- Previous work experience in an administrative environment
Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
- Advanced computer skills with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom), Final Cut or Adobe Premiere, etc.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write in both marketing and journalistic style.
- Reliable and dependable with the ability to consistently work assigned schedule
- Ability to follow processes and practices with high attention to detail
- Demonstrates integrity and works in accordance with Western's policies and procedures
- Ability to multitask, to prioritize and maintain an organized work environment,
- Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
- Ability to work in a manner that is compliant with confidentiality requirements as applicable
Please note:
hours per week: 35 hrs/week from May - August, 10-15 hrs/week from Sept - April
