Overview
The File Opening and Conflicts Clerk works under the direction of the Manager, Client Accounting and supports the efforts of the accounting department by assisting in tasks such as file openings, conflict checks, and closing files.
Client and Matter Creation
- Initiate the opening of new clients and matter files in accordance with established procedures.
- Obtaining required information ensuring all compulsory steps are completed and conducting thorough conflict searches in accordance with the Law Society of Manitoba Rules and the Firm's file opening process and procedures.
- Reviewing conflict search results and providing reports to responsible lawyers relating to potential conflicts.
- Receiving & managing incoming client matter information.
Client File Maintenance
- Inputting information into the accounting system relating to changes and updates to new and existing clients.
- Assisting with closing files, data entries and various other clerical duties, as directed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Accuracy and strong attention to detail essential
- Competent with MS Office and ability to maintain a comprehensive accounting database.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure within tight deadlines.
