Department Overview

  • The Associate Vice President, Performance Measurements, and Insights supporting the Canadian Personal & Commercial Finance team reports to the Senior Vice President, Finance & CFO, Canadian Personal and Commercial Bank and is responsible for leading a dedicated team of Finance professionals responsible for Finance measurement, analysis, and planning support.

Position Specific Accountabilities - AVP, Performance Measurements & Insights


This role provides advisory Finance support to Canadian Personal and Commercial (P&C) Executive Leadership team as well as senior financial and operational thought leadership support to the CFO and Group Head of Finance.

In addition, the team works closely with a range of partners including Treasury, EDS, Corporate Segment Finance, Chief Accountant's department and Financial Operations.

Reporting to the AVP, Finance, Performance Measurements & Insights is a team of finance professionals.


Finance and Business Leadership Accountabilities:

Reporting to the SVP and CFO, Canadian P&C Finance, this role is accountable to provide effective advice and support to CFO and Business Group Heads, and provide performance measurement, reporting and metrics to improve transparency and establish cost management strategies (targets)


The role includes:

  • Support the Canadian P&C businesses performance to meet earnings and performance targets and is responsible for financial planning & forecasting, reporting, and scorecards in supporting all segment discussions including TDBG Senior Executive Team (SET) presentation materials as well as external/public storytelling of the Segment. The role also supports the overall strategy for Canadian Retail from a financial perspective.
  • Capital / Return on Equity forecasting, analysis, and insights including capital limit monitoring and advocacy as well as thought leadership on capital optimization.
  • Business advisory and ad hoc support
  • Competitive peer benchmarking & intelligence as well as equity research analyst sentiments on behalf of the Segment
  • Proactively identify financial opportunities, risks and solutions
  • Telling the financial story, linking the strategic priorities and accomplishments of the group while providing value add advice to gain financial efficiencies while optimizing group effectiveness
  • Provide direction on allocation methodology and insights on impacts to Finance and Business segments
  • In addition, this role will lead the innovation and project delivery mandate on behalf of Canadian P&C Finance which includes both big "I" innovation program delivery and small "i" innovative process improvements.

  • CA/CMA/CGA/MBA/CFA

Other Qualifications / Skills / Experience

  • A finance executive / top level professional with broad range of financial management and advisory experience with extensive understanding of the business and key financial drivers
  • Possess advance level of expertise and financial acumen to provide insight on strategy development and be a strategic partner to the business on a broad range of financial matters
  • Balanced approach, ability to stay resilient under pressure
