Your opportunity:


This position has been designed to provide distinct support to the work of the Office of the Vice-Principal Academic & Dean (OVPAD) as it relates to the portfolio of the Vice-Dean, Academic Experience.


General areas of responsibility of the OVPAD include:

academic programs; academic HR; academic policy and planning; academic experience; academic integrity; academic appeals; experiential education; teaching andlearning support; strategic leadership; divisional research and data analysis; graduate affairs; tri-campus affairs; and more.

The Academic Integrity Unit (AIU) seeks to promote a culture of academic integrity (AI) and educational excellence.

The AIU handles all allegations of undergraduate academic misconduct at UTM under the Code of Behaviour on Academic Matters, supports students undergoing academic discipline proceedings, and educates students, faculty, and staff on issues and processes related to AI.


The Experiential Education Unit (EEU) aims to enrich the undergraduate education experience by promoting and nurturing unique opportunities and approaches to learning both within and outside of the classroom.

The EEU supports faculty, staff, and students on all academic matters related to Experiential Learning (EL) programming at UTM.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Executing assigned tasks according to production schedules and project plans
  • Assessing project output against quality control standards
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Informing senior staff of impending deadlines
  • Tracking and collecting information on project progress
  • Proofreading and factchecking content
  • Informing senior staff of concerns or setbacks
  • Analyzing administrative processes and procedures and recommending changes for improvement

Essential Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years related experience in a research and/or educational environment.
  • Strong numeric, research, and analytical skills with an ability to analyze complex data sets, identify trends in the data, develop new metrics and make recommendations based on datadriven insights that will support and inform departmental decisions.
  • Experience with data manipulation (e.g., coding for data entry, recording of variable for complex data, merging data), query design, data collection, and statistical analysis of databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex and large datasets from various sources, extract actionable insights, and communicate these to business users, both orally and through data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Experience developing communications materials for a variety of mediums, including print, digital, and social media
  • Advance Knowledge of MS Office (i.e. Excel, Access, PowerPoint), student information systems (i.e. ROSI/ACORN) and file management systems (i.e. SharePoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
