Showcase your expert data management and analysis skills in this opportunity with the Ministry of Education's Student Transportation Unit (STU).

You will provide expert advice to all internal and external clients regarding the analysis of data and information supporting strategic funding, policy/program development, and business planning decisions relating to the student transportation file.

STU is the team responsible for managing the $1-billion funding policy for student transportation in Ontario.

To support the implementation of the policy and incent efficiencies in the delivery of student transportation services in the province, STU is building up its data management and analytics function.

The Data Information & Management Analyst will play a crucial role in this function, working very closely with the Manager, Team Lead, and two senior data analysts to implement a data management and analysis strategy.

What can I expect to do in this role?: You will:

  • lead the analysis of policy development requirements to address business analysis and related data and information issues
- analyze data/information and financial impacts of policy for the purpose of providing advice and strategies to senior management
- support strategic funding, policy and program development as well as business planning decisions relating to school board business operations


How do I qualify?:


Analytical and Quantitative Expertise:


  • You can conduct analysis to identify trends, patterns, and relationships in large sets of quantitative data;
  • You have quantitative data management experience, including creating surveys, analyzing results, and using different data visualization tools or software to present findings.
  • You can establish a strong understanding of data, and their contextual relationship with business requirements.

Technical and Computer Knowledge:


  • You are familiar with government mandates and strategic priorities for the development strategies, policies, programs, and initiative;
  • You have a sound understanding of Geographic Information Systems and geospatial modelling to develop data visualizations that support decision making;
  • You have knowledge of information management principles;
  • You have high proficiency and technical skills in spreadsheet and database design and development.

Project Management Skills:


  • You have experience planning, participating in and leading projects;
  • You can demonstrate effective timemanagement skills to balance concurrent work initiatives and occasionally conflicting demands;
  • You have effective organization/coordination skills to ensure adherence to innovative project management approaches, methodologies and principles;
  • You have project management skills to coordinate multiple concurrent projects and to manage the implementation process and evaluate deliverables.

Specialized knowledge:

Communication and Relationship Management Skills:


  • You have excellent relationship management, teamwork and leadership skills to initiate and maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues and external/internal stakeholders.
  • You can communicate ideas and analysis results effectively both verbally and in writing to both a technical and non
