    Job title: Youth Mentor

    Description

    At our youth care homes, we are seeking individuals to fill casual Youth Mentor positions.

    The successful candidate will be part of a team providing culturally appropriate programming and wrap-around support, care planning, and skill development of youth in areas of violence prevention, healthy relationships, education, and leadership using strength-based Indigenous culture and trauma-informed practices.


    We have 5 Youth Care Homes located throughout the city. Each home provides unique opportunities for mentorship:


    • Luke's Place: A home for boys aged 11-14 years old

    • Isobel's Place: A home for pregnant girls and transgender teens aged 14-17 years old

    • Circle of Care: An emergency bed program specifically used by ANCR for children aged 0-10 years old

    • Honoring the Spirit of our Little Sisters: A specialized home for sexually exploited girls and transgender teens aged 13-17 years old

Experiential applicants encouraged to apply as residential care experienced workers advantageous highly related needs applicant must negotiate caseload while also developing growth plans with families which heavily depend on co operative collaborative work under stressful situations strong communication skills needed including verbal written some understanding about indigenous values community issues willingness harm reduction framework First Aid/CPR certification preferred class five driver licence access vehicle essential all employees Criminal Record Check required abused child record prior contact checks valid same . list must clear
