OVERVIEW:

Made-Rite Meat Products was founded in 1995. The company's line of business includes the manufacturing of Jerky and Co-packers of Pepperoni snacks.

OBJECTIVE/PURPOSE


As a Maintenance Technician, you will be primarily responsible for providing maintenance support to Production and Quality Assurance departments, ensuring raw beef processing machines, ready to eat packaging equipment, and facilities infrastructure are fully operational, while adhering to best practices for quality control in a food manufacturing setting.

This will include troubleshooting, repairing, and installation of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment or plumbing.

Daily activities will include blade changes for dicers, taking chemical samples, as well as the cleaning and preventative maintenance of various assets.

This individual needs to be hands on.


ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Respond to trouble calls by analyzing, diagnosing, and repairing production and packaging equipment, as well as facilities and building infrastructure.
  • Read, interpret and understand equipment manuals and drawings.
  • Replace belts, bearings, and fittings.
  • Perform preventative maintenance such as inspecting, cleaning, and lubricating.
  • Pull wires and install electronic devices.
  • Test and replace electrical devices such as fuses, receptacles, lights, sensors, and relays.
  • Install and replace 3 phase electric motors and VFDs.
  • Understand production processes and program equipment accordingly.
  • Perform tooling changes for packing equipment and replace blades on processing machines.
  • Start up boiler, monitoring and documenting water samples.
  • Perform building repairs including drywall, paint, caulking, and carpentry.
  • Document work with ERP software
  • Maintain open, accurate communication with other maintenance employees as well as production, QC, and safety management.
  • Provide all information necessary to maintain proper parts inventories.
  • Work with production teams to identify process improvements wherever possible
  • Work to maximize plant efficiencies, reduce costs, and maintain product quality
  • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and find irregularities and malfunctions
  • Operate machine tools, such as lathes and grinders, to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance, or setup of machinery
  • Basic welding
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMPs, Health & Safety, Food Safety & Environmental Standards, maintain sanitary conditions.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment.
  • Develop and maintains methods, procedures, attitudes and skills to provide quality work.
  • Make timely decisions and approaches all situations with integrity.
  • Other duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Red Seal Journeyperson or equivalent preferred; apprentice considered.
  • 3+ years' experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing environment (food manufacturing is preferred)
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge of electrical systems
  • Excellent in diagnosing and problem solving
  • Excellent trouble shooting and analytical skills
  • Must be able to communicate in English both oral and written
  • Selfmotivated and responsive to changing priorities in production environment
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Basic computer skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK CONDITIONS:


  • Must be able to perform the following physical activities: standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, lifting, carrying, balancing, stooping, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing.
  • Must be able to move around obstructions in a manufacturing environment.
  • May require lifting up to 50lbs with or without lifting aids and devices.
  • Specific vison abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Must be able to work in climatecontrolled offices and refrigerated spaces, as well as warm and humid spaces. May be exposed to hot and cold.
  • May be exposed to loud noises.
  • Must be comfortable around raw beef production.
