  • POSITION OVERVIEW


The Legal Assistant, Legal Affairs provides support to internal clients of business centres and business units by providing warranty taking, advice and warranty monitoring.

He or she assists in the effective administration of the day-to-day operations of the service to meet the needs and objectives of the service.


  • CHALLENGES TO BE MET
  • Verify the receipt of external warranty documents and follow up with external legal professionals
  • Maintain database systems of service activity records efficiently, in a timely manner and with the required rigor
  • Write legal documents for security under the internal collateral program and for loan amendments, publish and update security in accordance with BDC requirements and legal requirements, within critical deadlines
  • Drafting release documents and discharges of BDC securities
  • Conduct searches of corporate, land and personal property security registers
  • Review and analyze research and miscellaneous warranty requests
  • All other related tasks, upon request
  • WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Diploma or certificate in legal technology/ paralegal completed or in the process of completion, or equivalent experience
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience, preferably in a legal department
  • Knowledge of legal concepts, terminologies, and procedures, particularly in the field of movable and immovable securities for commercial transactions
  • Knowledge of the operation of land and personal property registers
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Microsoft Access and other computer systems and software
  • Superior time management/prioritization capacity
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure

  • Bilingualism is an asset (English & French)
