As an Accounting Manager, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our financial operations are seamless and scale with our growth as a company.


Roles & Responsibilities:


Accounting (70% of responsibilities):

  • Lead and manage small team of 12 staff to execute fullcycle accounting and month end close process, including:

Accounts Receivables:

  • Supervise processing of EFTs, cheque, and credit card payments
  • Follow up on collections for overdue accounts and resolve invoice discrepancies

Accounts Payables:

  • Oversee vendor invoices and expense reimbursements for payment
  • Review the reconciliation and posting for recurring expenses
  • Review monthly bank reconciliations
  • Review the processing, reconciliation, and posting of credit card statements
  • Reconcile and remit HST, EHT, and provincial sales taxes to the appropriate agencies

Other items:

  • Review monthly asset and liability continuity schedules
  • Review and approve routine journal entries

Payroll (20% of responsibilities):

  • Process semimonthly payroll for full time and part time employees, including monthly commissions, expense reimbursements, and termination/severance pay
  • Maintain payroll records and employee data from onboarding to completion, including benefits enrolment and terminations
  • Prepare remittances for taxes, source deductions, and workers compensation boards according to specific remitting frequency requirements
  • Prepare reconciliations and post journal entries to the general ledger
  • Process Records of Employment (ROE) T4s, and RL1s, including amendments if necessary
  • Prepare T4 and RL1 summaries, as well as annual reconciliations for various Federal and Provincial agencies
  • Balance and reconcile WSIB, HST, and EHT accounts, reporting payroll reconciliations according to their respective deadlines
  • Track vacation accruals and paid time off requests, carrying over vacation balances as required

Process Improvements and other (10% of responsibilities):

  • Lead implementation and process automation designed to improve payroll/accounting processes
  • Create guides and documentation (templates, handbooks, etc.) covering key processes, policies, and projects
  • Lead the accounting team and provide coverage during vacations/absences

Qualifications & Competencies:


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, accounting practices and principles, and compliance requirements
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning and using new technology and tools; experience with NetSuite is an asset
  • Proven ability to review and support other people's work under tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and data integrity
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, managing tasks independently with mínimal supervision
  • Strong analytic & problemsolving skills
  • Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information in a diplomatic and tactful manner
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and relationshipbuilding skills, with the ability to deal effectively with suppliers, customers and all levels of staff
