Assessment accommodation


Duties:

Supervises the human resources and work of a laboratory diagnostic testing service unit.


Plans and delivers accreditation programs and specialized testing including the review of data and authorization of results to internal and/or external clients.


Collects, analyses, evaluates and interprets data, and prepares the delivery of results in the form of presentations, reports, and scientific literature, and provides authoritative advice and recommendations to senior staff and/or management and/or at conferences in the area of expertise.

Leads scientific projects, laboratory investigations and validation studies for diagnostic and testing purposes.

Responds to emergency issues to evaluate analytical tests and develops project protocols.


Represents the unit, team, lab, lab network or Agency and advocates its viewpoints and interests as a participant on local, national, and/or international committees, working groups, and project teams.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION

EEd- A Bachelor's Degree in a natural, physical or applied science with a major or specialization in plant sciences, plant taxonomy, or related discipline relevant to the position, from a recognized post-secondary institution.


Applicants submitting education credentials from a non-Canadian institution are responsible for obtaining certification that these credentials are the equivalent of the Canadian education level required for the position.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
EE- Experience in studying, identifying or testing plants or seeds in a laboratory or research setting.
EE- Experience in supervising a work team.
EE- Experience in adoption of innovative approaches or emerging technologies in routine work or procedures.


OTHER ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Essential qualifications, such as competencies, abilities and skills, knowledge and personal suitability, will vary depending on the position being staffed.

Essential qualifications will be assessed by the manager prior to an appointment being made.


ASSET EDUCATION

AEd- An Advanced Degree in a natural, physical or applied science with a major or specialization in plant sciences, plant taxonomy, or related discipline relevant to the position, from a recognized post-secondary institution.

ASSET EXPERIENCE


AEx- Significant* experience conducting or using testing procedures or rules for seed germination, other seed determination or percentage purity tests on seed.

AEx- Significant* experience conducting plant or seed identification.

AEx- Experience in the delivery or implementation of programs with a client service focus.

AEx- Experience in plant or seed taxonomy for identification of plant species.

AEx- Experience in project management for multiple teams, disciplines or collaborators.

AEx- Significant**supervisor experience.

  • Significant is defined as having performed these tests on a broad range of plant species over a period of approximately a year or more.
**Significant supervisor experience is defined as supervising a work team for over a period of approximately a year or more.
