ABOUT THE ROLE
We are currently seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, and interpersonal individual to join our Renewable Development group.

As the Land & Stakeholder Coordinator, you are primarily responsible for coordinating land lease arrangements, stakeholder communications, and regulatory reviews across multiple jurisdictions in Canada and the USA.

You will manage the day-to-day processes relating to land administration, lease preparation, and tracking for renewables development prospecting sites within TransAlta's Growth Team.

You will also coordinate all stakeholder consultation activities, conduct outreach, and manage contact records, and files.


This position is an integral player on the Renewable Development team and will interact internally with corporate groups such as Land, Insurance, Accounting, Construction, and Legal.

This is a permanent full-time salaried position based at our head office in Calgary, with the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement (days in office & days at home).


WHAT YOU WILL DO
As the Land & Stakeholder you are accountable for, but not limited to:

Stakeholders

  • Managing the relationship with TransAlta's current and prospective landowners for all development sites across Canada and USA, which includes:
  • Manage and direct 3rd party land acquisition consultants and advisors
  • Track all landowner communications, commitments, and correspondence
  • Proactively interact on behalf of TransAlta with various landowner and stakeholder groups by establishing relationships through communication and engagement
  • Assist in executing landowner and stakeholder openhouse events
  • Managing land agreement execution and coordination
  • Participate in Due Diligence reviews on potential acquisitions

Stakeholder and Regulatory

  • Create and implement a Stakeholder Engagement Strategy for multijurisdictional new development projects in renewables
  • Create and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, decisionmakers, and local organizations
  • Prepare Participant Involvement Program (PIP) Reports accompanying regulatory filings
  • Identify stakeholder groups through research
  • Communicate internal and external messaging on project specifics, acting as the central point of contact
  • Support regulatory reviews by researching/documenting/summarizing applicable federal, state, provincial, and local regulations applicable to the development

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • Successful completion of a University Degree or Certificate in a related field of study
  • Demonstrated experience using mapping tools
  • Experience in using tools such as SPIN II, Pandell, and other land databases
  • Ability to build strong, longlasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to present complex concepts in a simple manner to stakeholders
  • Excellent communicator, able to multitask, and able to adapt to changing work assignments and priorities
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills, and keen attention to detail
  • Critical thinking and ability to identify creative solutions to emerging issues in a timely manner
  • Strong team member working on crossfunctional teams with an ability to work independently and produce results within agreedupon deadlines
  • Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Ability to read and interpret contracts

Nice to Haves

  • Experience using GIS, SharePoint, and SAP
  • Understanding renewable energy and the project development process
