4-H Alberta
4-H is a youth development organization that guides, supports and inspires Alberta's greatest resource, the youth of Alberta.

We are Alberta's premier youth organization that encourages youth to learn to do by doing, and empowers them to become leaders and volunteers in their clubs, communities, countries, and the world.


4-H Alberta's Club Initiative
This is a one year pilot project by 4-H Alberta to create another club option for members. These clubs are short term in length and there will be multiple within the traditional club year. This year, the initiative will be located in Calgary.


The traditional 4-H Club can run throughout the year developing skills over time such as leadership, communication, and project based learning.

This initiative is a taste of what 4-H is all about. It is an introduction to all areas of the traditional club.

This is another option for members who are looking for a short term club or for new members to get a taste of 4-H before registering for a more traditional club.

The overall goal of this initiative is to support member retention and new member participation.


Responsibilities of this position

  • Design a new club format that is short term (68 weeks in length) and aligns with 4H Alberta requirements
  • Make connections in the community for possible project support, facilities, and more
  • Support the marketing team to promote the clubs
  • Be the point of contact for these new clubs for potential and current members and their families
  • Facilitate safe, inclusive, and fun programming for all 4H ages
  • Foster a member centres and adultyouth partnership based format
  • Coordinate volunteer leaders for the clubs by supporting their role, screening and training, and new format for the clubs. These roles will support the programming and ratio
  • Support other areas in 4H Alberta when required
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Position Requirements

  • An education background in child development, education, or another related field
  • A valid drivers licence and access to a vehicle
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR/AED (Level C) certification or ability to obtain prior to start date
  • Ability to obtain a clear police check with a vulnerable sector check prior to start date
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage high volumes of administrative tasks during peak times
  • Able to efficiently manage time within designated work hours
  • Able to work independently as well as be a strong member of a team
  • Available to work full time for the year with peak times from September to December
  • Available to work evenings and weekends
  • Comfortable instructing and working directly with youth of all ages
  • Able to work independently, and collaboratively, as part of a team
  • Experience working with youth, specifically with youth programming
  • 4H experience is an asset
