The Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction (CCSA) changes lives by bringing people and knowledge together to reduce the harms of alcohol and other drugs on society.

Reporting to the Director, Finance (or designate), the Project Manager drives the delivery of detailed project plans aligned with CCSA's collaborative activities.

The incumbent is responsible in planning and priority setting on a wide variety of divisional initiatives.

This role focuses on the fundamentals of project management and works closely with key stakeholders, cross-functional partners and supports team to implement CCSA's strategy.


Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Lead a team of project coordinators, covering various projects within CCSA.
  • Team management includes but not limited to, day to day direction of the team, motivating and guiding the team, resolving conflicts, performance recognition and correction as well as ensuring effective collaboration among team members.
  • Lead and implement endtoend project plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Define project scope, objectives, budget, and results that support business goals in collaboration with all partners and all stakeholders, making key decisions, and ensuring project goals and timelines are achieved.
  • Identify and engage key internal and external partners and stakeholders in advancing project objectives
  • Demonstrated risk management strategies including the timely identification and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Management of all project documentation pertinent to the project, including but not limited to, status reports, work plans, presentations
  • Strong relationship builder to ensure the active participation, satisfaction and commitment of partners and stakeholders collaborating on CCSA projects through ongoing communication and support
  • Promote events to key audiences using targeted methods
  • Contribute to the development and execution of internal processes for producing resources and reviewing deliverables and project budgets
  • Resultsdriven, able to grasp and convey complex ideas clearly; deadline driven with excellent project and time management skills;
  • Manage project budgets and develop detailed work plans to track progress
  • Track deliverables and keep partners and stakeholders updated about progress

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of experience in project management. A combination of experience and education will be considered
  • University degree or college diploma in business management and project management
  • PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) or Capital Asset Pricing Model Certification (CAPM)
  • Working experience using project management concepts, tools, approaches and practices
  • Strong organizational, planning and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and coordinate projects with tight timelines
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in developing / managing business requirements;
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to foresee project risks, plan for contingencies, and monitor and adjust plans as necessary
  • Excellent leadership, motivational, and conflict resolution skills.

Assets

  • Experience working in or with governmental, nongovernmental and international organizations
  • Experience implementing project management software
  • Experience with lived or living experience in the area of substance use and health promotion.
  • Bilingual — English and French
