Rural Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) Program

Job Description:

***:Under the general supervision of the Clinical Manager and the direction of the registered nurse on duty, participates as a member of a multidisciplinary care team in the provision of care for the residents.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides basic nursing care based on each resident's developed care plan and within the framework of an established nursing program.
Encourages and supports resident participation in activities of daily living.
Provides input into the development and maintenance of resident care plans and participates in resident care conferences.
Reports changes in residents' physical and mental condition to the Registered Nurse and documents as per policy.
Completes all required documentation including resident flow sheets.
Participates in maintaining a safe environment for residents and staff, demonstrating an appropriate response to emergencies and safety procedures.
Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

Successful completion of a recognized personal support worker program approved by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care; or
Enrolled at a college or university in the registered practical nursing or registered nursing program

Skills/Abilities:

A genuine interest and understanding of the needs of the elderly is necessary
Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
Must be competent within the meaning of the _Occupational Health and Safety Act_

Assets:

Experience in caring for the elderly
Certification in CPR

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires constant standing/walking; frequent squatting/crouching; unilateral lifting 1- 25 lbs. frequently, bilateral lifting 50+ lbs. frequently, lbs. occasionally; push/pull lbs. frequently.

Occasional = up to 33% of working day; Frequent = % of working day; Constant = % of working day.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
Must provide proof of full COVID19 vaccination at point of conditional offer
Prior to commencing employment, will be required to review and attest/affirm to all Pioneer Ridge Staff Immunization Policies
Must have successfully undergone a "two step" tuberculosis skin test within the 12 months prior to employment
Prior to commencing employment, must undergo a successful Offence & Professional Misconduct Declaration Process
Must successfully complete all mandatory training as required by the Corporation on an annual basis
