    VICE PRESIDENT HUMAN RESOURCES & CHIEF HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER

    Location: Flin Flon, The Pas, or Thompson, MB
    (Position can be based at any of the three sites)

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Vice-President Human Resources & Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), as a member of the Executive Leadership Council (ELC), oversees the following areas:

  • Recruitment and Retention
  • Representative Workforce Strategy
  • Labour/Employee Relations
  • Compensation and Benefits
  • Organization & Staff Development/Leadership Development
  • Employee Wellness/Staff Health
  • Occupational Health & Safety
  • Staff Scheduling
  • In the role of CHRO, oversees all Human Resource (HR) functions to ensure a positive labour/employee relationship.

    This position requires provision of extensive service and travel to outlying communities and within the province year-round.

    The incumbent must fulfill the requirements of the Criminal Records/Vulnerable Person, Child Abuse Registry check and Adult Abuse Registry check, and adhere to all Northern Health Region (NHR) policies and procedures.

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Baccalaureate or Graduate Degree in Human Resource Management (other combinations of education and experience may be considered)
  • Membership in the Canadian Association of Healthcare Human Resources Management (CAHHRM)
  • Valid Manitoba Class V driver's license, access to a vehicle, and willingness to travel the Region and Province year round
  • Five (5) years' experience in a Senior Human Resource Advisor capacity within a unionized environment preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Five (5) years' supervisory/management experience in a senior level role
  • Thorough knowledge of Windows based programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat and Internet
  • Experience with strategic and operational planning
    Knowledge and familiarity with Northern health issues, culture, and population to be served
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of relevant labour legislation
    Extensive experience in interpretation, application, and administration of collective agreements
  • Experience in the collective bargaining process and ability to serve as the Chief Negotiator
