Position Overview:
An operations specialist and administrative role that executes critical daily processes to support investments by mutual funds, ETFs and separately managed accounts.
Responsibilities:
- Execute critical daily processes to provide essential inputs for mutual funds and trades from the Investment Managers
- Ensure correct and timely postexecution reporting of trades
- Receive securities trades on a daily basis from Investment Managers, ensuring the trades are accurately and promptly entered to the portfolio accounts' records
- Perform reconciliations and identify, report and escalate portfolio security discrepancies
- Work with custodian banks/prime brokers, investment managers, and traders to resolve portfolio discrepancies and market settlement issues
- Minimize risk and operational losses by adhering to established policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Two to four years of experience in an accounting/operations related position (experience with mutual funds, securities/investments, foreign currency translation and derivatives preferred)
- Postsecondary degree/diploma specializing in Accounting/Finance/Commerce/Business or equivalent
- Working towards completion of the Canadian Securities Course
- Familiarity with professional information systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office such as MS Excel and Word; Access would be an asset
- Programming/development and data management skills an asset
- Ability to work independently in a time sensitive environment and deal with fluctuating work volumes is required
- A high attention to detail is required
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of applicable policies and procedures
