The Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) is a public, post-secondary institution that provides education and training

areas of study - from conflict resolution, mediation, leadership and counselling, to cybersecurity, business intelligence,
and tactical criminal analysis - as well as applied research in the justice and public safety fields. Join our team and help

Position Summary:
JPSD includes law enforcement studies, corrections and court services, policing, security, and continuing professional
education. Programming ranges from short course training through to degrees. Law Enforcement Studies Programs
include a diploma, post-baccalaureate diploma, and a bachelor degree, which offer graduates the knowledge and skills
and experiential learning, while developing a wider remit of competencies including conflict resolution, interpersonal
communication and research and scholarship.
Central to the success of the JIBC's vision of being a world leader in justice and public safety education are our
instructional faculty. Experiential and applied learning can only occur if our faculty possess the practical and expert
knowledge of field practitioners. In addition, they must also have and exhibit a firm understanding of teaching, learning,
and adult education. JIBC faculty are vital to ensuring that JIBC students experience an education that is rich and
meaningful.
Primary Responsibilities:
Classroom teaching and student support functions:
- Develop and implement a syllabus which conforms to the learning outcomes for the course;
- Design teaching and learning strategies that align assessment and evaluation methods with course objectives;
- Encourage discussion and help students make connections between theory and practice;
- Field and respond to questions related to course content and assignments;
- Encourage student participation, monitor student progress, and assess student performance;
- Mark and provide feedback on all course assessments;
- Collaborate on a regular basis with program faculty, managers and staff to support student success and progress****Qualifications & Requirements:
- At minimum, a Master's degree in a related discipline and a minimum of two years of documented teaching
- Experience working in public safety field is preferred;
- Effective written and oral communication skills;
- Ability to maintain collegial working relationships with students, staff, administration and other instructors
- Excellent organizational and problemsolving skills with a proven ability to work under pressure while satisfying
