***: The Maintenance Supervisor, reporting to the Maintenance Manager, supervises the maintenance department that consists of a team of 14 Millwrights and Electricians. Using Maintenance Connect management system, the Supervisor must work to improve the preventive maintenance program to minimize reactive and unplanned work. The Supervisor must also seek continued reductions in downtime and the cost of mechanical repairs.


POSITION TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Maintain and build a collaborative environment conducive to productive and positive relationships with employees.
  • Provide support and training to plant maintenance teams and serve as a mentor and coach in their development.
  • Ensure maintenance teams have support and resources needed for weekend tasks.
  • Assume a leadership role in the program of health and safety.
  • Working with engineering and projects teams to ensure current and future compliance with all standards, including Building Code, electrical standards, the Ministry of Environment, etc.
  • Prepare reports on Health and Safety activities.
  • In house trainer for specific employee training modules, for example: fork lift, scissor lift, etc.
  • Encourage process improvements in maintenance and operations with all involved parties.
  • Take part in decisions related to improvements.
  • Establish harmonious relationships with all staff members.
  • Have input in department budget preparation.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Postsecondary degree, diploma or trade certificate in engineering or a related trade field.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative with a positive outlook.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and decisionmaking skills.
  • Experience in a lead hand or supervisory capacity promoting a teamwork approach.
  • Strong skills in coaching and mentoring to assist in successful employee development.
  • Proven ability to perform multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment.
  • Maintenance Connect experience an asset.
  • Ability to maintain open and effective communication with employees and with superiors.
