Role and Responsibilities


The
_Data Manager _is responsible to catalog and track all airframe/platform manufacturer and other 3rd party vendor technical data used in the design of CAE simulation and training products.


Working in close collaboration with Solution Leaders, System Architecture Specialists and Global Strategic Sourcing Managers, the Data Manager ensures that the required data is defined, ordered, and received in a timely manner to support effective project execution, based on integrated master schedule (IMS) milestones.


He/she validates that the data requested is fully utilised during the internal design process and investigates opportunities with Engineering to determine if alternate solutions can be implemented to reduce or eliminate the dependency on external design data.


The role we are offering you:

The Data Manager is part of CAE's Systems Engineering team, responsible for the technical solution and architecture definition of various simulation products used in the Civil and Defense training markets.


  • Coordinate the creation of Data Maps with System Architecture Specialists and engineering data users based on customer requirements for active projects, and followup on the request for quotation process with the Global Sourcing team during the proposal phase of new opportunities
  • Data Maps identify data procured directly through the external airframe or platform manufacturers, the avionics and systems vendors, as well as buyer furnished, or government furnished information (BFI/GFI)
  • Data to be tracked also includes CAEgathered data, for example during flight test programs on an actual aircraft, when vendor data is not available or incomplete
  • Support Engineering in correctly using the Data Maps tool, including how to clearly identify which information is being requested, with the right level of details
  • Following contract award, coordinate and track the ordering, receiving, and cataloging of procured data with Engineering, Procurement and Data Control Center stakeholders, and report any concern or issue observed with security classifications and export control restrictions
  • Inform Engineering of data availability and validate the completeness of data package received with the different engineering Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
  • During the design process, identify which portion of the data has been used by each systems group to validate if what was procured and received is fully required and adequate, and ensure that this status is being reflected in the Data Maps tool
  • Report on data status periodically during project execution, using quality gate checklists
  • Build and maintain a library of vendor data used on the different platforms to facilitate access and reuse on future projects
  • Support the identification of major data cost drivers and investigate alternate solutions with Engineering to reduce or eliminate dependencies on costly vendor data and associated intellectual property (IP) license fees
  • College degree in a technical, logistic, or administrative field
  • Good oral & written communication skills, in both French and English
  • Good interpersonal skills and teamwork attitude
  • Good organisation skills and attention to details
  • Proficient with MS-Office tools
  • Previous exposure to the aerospace and/or defence industry considered an asset
  • Be able to hold a NATO SECRET security clearance and a Controlled Goods Program (CGP) clearance
