Description

The Crown Royalty Consultant ("Consultant") works with the team to identify Crown royalty incentives and deductions applicable to oil and gas production in order to reduce the overall Crown royalty liabilities of our clients.

The Consultant will gain an understanding of oil and gas field operations, as well as the mechanics of Crown royalty on a multi-province basis.

This includes, but is not limited to, gaining a basic understanding of field operations, performing incentive research and analysis, becoming proficient with the use of databases, and performing detailed financial reconciliations and calculations.

Duties and responsibilities, as they align to Ryan's Key Results


People:

  • Create a positive team member experience.
  • Researches and analyzes provincial Crown royalty issues and communicates to management.

Client:

  • Performs fieldwork at client site to review detailed support documentation necessary to substantiate incentive applicability and to support deduction calculations used as a basis for filing refund claims.
  • Communicates and interacts with clients and external contacts at regulatory and taxing authorities under the direction of management.
  • Reconciles client production figures.

Value:

  • Works as directed on client engagements. Researches issues, gathers data from client records and government sources, and performs data entry functions.
  • Performs detailed financial calculations.
  • Works with data and software in Microsoft Access and Excel in order to prepare supporting documentation necessary to file refund claims.
  • Performs company research for utilization in marketing proposals and prospect development initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:


A Bachelor's degree or college diploma in Accounting, Finance, and/or Economics with zero to two years audit or Crown royalty tax-related experience required.


Computer Skills:


To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research.


Certificates and Licenses:
Valid driver's license required.


Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Work Environment:

  • Standard indoor working environment.
  • Occasional long periods of sitting while working at computer.
  • Position requires regular interaction with employees at all levels of the Firm; interface with clients and external vendors as necessary.
  • Independent travel requirement: 0 to 10%.
  • 40+ hour standard workweek requirement.
