Testing Centre Support Officer - International


The Testing Centre Support Officer - International supports, implements, evaluates, and promotes testing services for the Mohawk Testing Centre including Assessments for Success and Pre-Admission Testing (virtual and in person), External Testing, Accommodated Testing, Missed and Makeup Testing.

They will also be responsible for supporting other student success initiatives at all campuses as required.


The incumbent will support all students and applicants, with a focus on International, by facilitating academic, admissions and placement testing.


The position requires strong collaboration with the International departments, as well as a high level of troubleshooting and analysis on a daily basis, to ensure the efficient administration of all academic testing that takes place at the Testing Centres and other student success initiatives.

The position requires a high level of professionalism, ability to navigate a complex and high paced environment.

The incumbent must be comfortable, stay calm and have strong communication skills when working with International students, external clients and faculty members.

A familiarity with data manipulation and technical troubleshooting is also required.

Additionally, legal and ethical statutes are reviewed and interpreted to ensure that Mohawk College is compliant with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.


Responsibilities:

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

Operations and Programming

  • Directly supporting International students and applicants to ensure accurate test bookings policies and procedures are being followed
  • Day to day operations of the Testing Centre including External Testing, Academic Testing (Accommodated and Missed/Makeup Testing), Assessments for Success and Pre-Admissions testing, preadmission testing for International students including virtual and inperson test administration, arranging for invigilators, answering staff inquiries, troubleshooting student scheduling conflicts and coordinating testing session
  • Technical and administration troubleshooting for applicants testing remotely
  • Extract, compile, manipulate, verify and input data into customized databases to foster smooth testing process for students
  • Write and then determine the best means to disseminate the reports once prepared
  • Meet, inform and offer solutions to research needs of the department
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system problems

Information and Data Management

  • Managing the scheduling and registration for all incoming testing requests
  • Manipulate and input data from online student test bookings ensuring students are correctly booking their test appointments
  • Plan, consult and organize Assessments for Success sessions required by all incoming students to the college
  • Consult and initiate, as needed, close communication with the Testing Centre Manager to assist in the preparation, manipulation, retrieval, compilation and analysis of data as required for various research projects
  • Provide direct oversight and coordination of preadmission virtual testing for International Students
  • Liaison with students in their home country as required to provide support for virtual preadmission testing

Student & Staff Liaison

  • Establish and maintain rapport with all thirdparty software technical support International students and applicants with writing their tests.
  • Be familiar with the following policies: Testing Centre Policy, Ontario Human Rights Code and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
  • Participate in and follow all departmental safety training and precautions
  • Participate in regular staff meetings with the manager and team

Other Duties

  • Provide support to Testing Centre parttime staff and invigilators
  • Oversee the scheduling and administration of External Proctoring services by liaising with other colleges and academic institutions requiring services and learners writing at the Testing Centres
  • Preparing for upcoming testing cycle by contact
