- Post-secondary degree or diploma in outdoor education, outdoor leadership, adventure therapy or a related field;
- Experience developing and implementing outdoor education programming;
- Experience teaching and leading a variety of learners from youth to young adult;
- Experience supervising and mentoring staff;
- Experience instructing outdoor based programs (e.g. canoe tripping, backpacking, wilderness travel and campcraft skills) preferably for children or youth;
- Experience with office administration is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to employ tact and diplomacy and the use of sound judgement;
- Capacity to work with minimal supervision and to manage multiple priorities;
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written);
- Superb organizational and logistical abilities;
- Excellent facilitation skills;
- Conflict resolution skills;
- Proven critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills;
- Proven abilities maintaining a safety focus in an outdoor setting;
- Ability to develop and lead programming that provides leadership opportunities and promotes positive relationships.
- Valid Yukon Class 4 drivers licence (or equivalent); must be obtained prior to launch of camp season
- Must submit a Security Clearance and Vulnerable Sector Check (RCMP)
- Wilderness level First Aid certification must be obtained prior to the commencement of camp activities
- Must hold a canoe instructor certification; (if expired, must be renewed prior to launch of camp season)
- Swift water rescue must be obtained prior to the commencement of camp activities
