Position
The Pediatric Emergency Research Canada (PERC) Network Coordinator reports to the PERC Chair and the PERC Executive.

The PERC Network Coordinator also works with the PEAK Research Team (Pediatric Emergency:
Advancing Knowledge, Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine) and report closely to the PEAK Research Director and Program Manager.

The PERC Coordinator will work within the framework of the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Department of Pediatrics' policies and procedures.

They are required to follow University of Alberta ethics and internal protocols to ensure that network goals are met.

The PERC Network Coordinator holds extensive knowledge in the field of network coordination (being the primary liaison between members), network priority setting, complex grant preparation, client relations, event planning, budget management, database management, research coordination support, website management and design, use of social media to build network reputation, and seeking new ways for network growth.

This individual provides independent, full scope research network coordination and stakeholder relations for the PERC network.


Duties

  • Serves as primary liaison between network investigators, site representatives, research coordinators, network members and external contacts (e.g., provide information and advice about programs/services)
  • Reports closely with the PERC Chair and Executive for decision making, process changes, governance guidelines, code of conduct and network research
  • Manage and coordinate the annual scientific meeting
  • Oversee overall cash flow of research network and actively seek new methods of funding to sustain and grow the network
  • Creating/managing network specific budgets. This includes managing the incoming funds from grants, 200+ memberships and events and outgoing funds for conferences, salaries and supplies.
  • Coordinate research project(s), which includes the following tasks:
  • perform study preparation and set-up activities (including obtaining ethics, operational, legal and administrative approval),
- manage the conduct of research protocols, liaise with Alberta Health Services and University departments,
- supervise and delegate tasks to research assistants,
- train research and clinical staff,
- develop study-specific standard operating procedures, and assist the Program Manager in study-specific finances.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with 45 years of relevant experience in communication, event planning or network coordination; a combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to work in a team environment as well as independently with mínimal supervision
  • Budget management experience is essential
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to fulfill the responsibilities of the position
**Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of University regulations, policies and procedures would be an asset and previous experience working in postsecondary environments is highly desirable
  • Experience in medical research is preferred
  • HR or finance/bookkeeping training is preferred
  • Proficiency in French is an asset
  • Experience as a research coordinator, postgraduate training, grant writing, or working with an industry partner or granting agency would be highly desirable
