MPOWERING CHILDREN AND FAMILIES The Vancouver Society of Children's Centres (VSOCC) understands that children are competent, capable, and will reach their full potential when they actively participate in their own play and learning. We encourage and support children's natural curiosity and foster diverse, inclusive, and nurturing environments where healthy play is encouraged.


VSOCC is looking for
Temporary Full-time School Age Child Educators for our School Age Summer Programs, who are excited to go on walks, outdoor fieldtrips and swimming activities with children every week throughout the summer.


Here's how you will make a positive impact on a day-to-day basis:

  • Planning, implementing and evaluating activities and experiences to meet individual and group needs of all children and families including local and regional fieldtrips and walks
  • Planning and implementing programming which focuses on recreation and leisure activities; building lifeskills; and leadership, arts and sports activities
  • Guiding and caring for a group of children ages 5 years to 12 years
  • Encouraging learning and developing positive selfconcepts for children
  • Ensuring a healthy and safe environment for children and their families
  • Effective and cooperative team work and communication
  • Maintaining positive and supportive relationships with parents and teachers

In addition to being a wonderful and positive person & team player, you must have:

  • Completed grade 12 and be at least 19 years of age.
  • Completed a course or a combination of courses, of at least 20 hours duration in child development, guidance, health and safety or nutrition (e.g. "Responsible Adult" course).
  • Childcare First Aid and Food Safe training and certification.
  • Experience with children, groups of children, teamwork and variety of cultures.
  • Well developed interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication.
  • Strong interest in planning and implementing activities for school age children.

Additional skills and experiences may include:

  • Experience working in recreational programs, day camps, coaching or leading children in group activities or organized sports
  • Registered in a postsecondary training in education, early childhood education, child and youth care, recreation, social work, arts or related fields preferred.
  • A second language

Terms of Employment:


  • Salary: $23.15 per hour
  • Temporary fulltime for 7.5 hours per day from Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week
  • Starting: June 23 to September 1, 2023 (inclusive)
