About The Role


The Liquor Retail Finance Team is a unique group within SNDL that provides support to business partners across a varied range of activities.

The team works closely with Merchandising, Marketing and Operations in retail liquor stores as well as the SNDL corporate finance team to provide support for setting, tracking and achieving financial goals.

The role will be responsible for planning, forecasting and reporting activities, as well as driving business analysis and strategic insights.

Role and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Drive planning, forecasting and reporting related processes across the company as both a process owner and analytical thought leader.
  • Help drive the company towards better outcomes through accurate forecasting, clear communication of performance, and insightful synthesis of results.
  • Support the periodic financial close and forecasting process by providing insights on financial performance, guidance on expected gaps and plan/forecast variance analysis.
  • Partner closely with business owners throughout the Company to build collaborative working relationships and influence them to superior results through data driven insights.
  • Oversight of the financial planning tools and technology, including driving the enhancement roadmap in partnership with our financial systems team.
  • Support the development of weekly financial forecasts that accurately predict store performance; analyze and interpret variances to prior forecast, budget and prior year performance.
  • Streamline processes, optimize financial systems, and help build out reporting infrastructure.
  • Help design and build presentations for Executive and Board level audiences.
  • Drive various regular and ad hoc analytical projects that deliver key insights for making critical business decisions.
  • Contribute to the team's strong collaborative culture by developing strong crossfunctional partnerships and relationships to support initiatives and by fostering a workplace of inclusiveness and belonging.

Experience and Qualifications

  • A postsecondary education in Finance or related field is required; experience working in a fastpaced environment, particularly corporate and/or retail will be considered an asset
  • Minimum of 5 years' finance or accounting experience
  • Enrollment in CPA program an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to bring together and manage interactions with colleagues from across the team and organization
  • Strong initiative and business acumen, with an ability to focus on continuous improvement and an eagerness to learn
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Resultsoriented and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work with and manipulate large volumes of data and translate into meaningful and insightful reporting
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Experience using budget system software (Anaplan, Hyperion, BPC, etc) and working knowledge of business data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) is an asset
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint, required
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Must pass a basic security clearance
