    Description

    Position Summary:

    Reporting directly to the Director of Digital Health, Quality, Performance & Research, Chief Privacy Office, the Clinical Informatics Manager is responsible for the advancement of electronic documentation and health knowledge in an EMR environment.

    This role plans and manages the clinical informatics program, transferring relevant data into actionable results and information that all health care professionals can access.

    Responsible for directing and developing clinical application guidelines, job aides, including education lead and key lead support to the organization supporting the Electronic Medical Record adoption sustainment and optimization.

    The Clinical Informatics position provides guidance and assistance to various roles across the organization to assist in design and implementation of clinical documentation and support clinical workflows.

    This role also supports the quality program across the electronic systems, supporting all upgrades, testing and optimization activities. Supports new module roll outs to the organization and leads change management activities related to system and digital changes.

    Manager is responsible to support, promote, and lead through example, the adoption of the organization's digital health goals and strategy, as well as our mission, vision and values.

    Qualifications:


    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Acts as a leader and facilitator to Clinical Practice, Operations Managers and the health care team, regarding documentation practices and workflow requirements to support electronic documentation, as well as other digital health initiatives
    • Conduct learning needs assessments and determine educational requirements of the inter-professional team and the organization related to the electronic system (CERNER)
    • Developing, implementing, and facilitating learning activities that assist staff to enhance their practice related to CERNER and digital health initiatives
    • Evaluating clinical practice related to documentation and quality indicators for clinical staff and programs.
    • Provide staff development expertise as educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent, and leader in advancement of nursing knowledge and practice related to clinical documentation, workflow and organization and regional standardization.
    • Work in partnership with Transform Share Service Organization Clinical Informatics Leads to support, test, validate and troubleshoot system issues. Supports all upgrades and optimization activities.
    • Act as a liaison between clinical evidence and best practice with the informatics world supporting a regional standardization philosophy. Assist Directors and CMIO in translating optimization initiatives into executable improvements and communicating HDGH unique needs to regional teams.
    • Maintain and update all clinical education materials, downtime processes and binder oversite, job aids etc. to reflect changes in process or system workflows.
    • Acts as HDGH lead on various regional work stream teams (Clinical Documentation, Physician, Rehab/MH etc.) and a representative on Regional E-Practice, Change Management Adoption Team and Regional System Access Committee.
    • Using data documented and reporting tools, monitor /generate reports and complete audits to provide quality support to leadership and staff compliance within the system in a timely way. Manage the Lights On reports for Clinical indicators and feedback monitoring.
    • Identify policies that require updating due to workflow or EMR related changes and act as a resource for changes related to Cerner.
    • Coordinates and facilitates communication amongst clinical and physician staff on discussions related to CERNER and digital health initiatives
    • Work in direct partnership with Director on Digital health and other informatics related projects as clinical resource and support, including supporting Restoration activities and projects related to the Cyber event.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Advanced competence with Microsoft Office software
    • Demonstrated ability to calmly lead and effect change
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team approach and to adhere to accepted standards of personal conduct
    • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge base and clinical competence in relevant area of patient care
    • Demonstrated skills in problem solving, analytical skills and creative thinking
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to mentor calm decision making while maintaining a balance of focus on quality, standardization and cost management.
    • Demonstrated ability to educate and train staff effectively
    • Proven ability to organize multiple priorities and function as a liaison, working with all levels of the organization.
    • Previous experience with Cerner as super user , CPM , manager or other Cerner related expertise and/or experience
    • Proven ability to collaborate with positive relations and work with external partners (in this role other hospitals and TSSO directly and collaboratively
    Education and/or Certification:
    Bachelor's Degree, Science Degree in Nursing – required
    Master's Degree in Nursing – preferred
    Registered Nurse with current Certificate of Registration with the CNO – required
    Specialty Certifications/Diplomas in Clinical Informatics - preferred
    5 years recent relevant clinical experience – required
    3 years patient/family/staff teaching experience – preferred
    Experience with Cerner system specifically and familiar with HDGH job aids and workflows – preferred
