The Steinberg Centre for Simulation and Interactive Learning delivers simulation-based medical education programs to students from all of the four professional schools under the auspices of the Faculty of Medicine, and healthcare professionals from all of the McGill affiliated hospitals.

Its focus is to support and encourage inter-professional models of learning and to enhance the skills of health care professionals through education, research, evaluation and innovation, thereby improving patient safety and the quality of care.


The Education Manager Reports to the Centre Director and to the Director of Education of the Steinberg Centre for Simulation and Interactive Learning in close collaboration with the Director of Operations to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the educational activities of the Centre.


Specific duties include:

  • Plans, implements and manages the educational activities of the Centre by working with education leaders in all schools of the faculty to determine learning needs and with educators to help develop the best uses of simulation for education, training, and assessment
  • Works with the Director of Education to implement a means to assess the education activities and ensure quality improvement
  • Ensures that the use of simulation is accurate and appropriate and enhances the learning activity
  • Identifies quality improvement opportunities based on the evaluation process and makes recommendations to the Director of Education and monitors the effectiveness
  • Works closely with the Centre's Director and Director of Operations to ensure alignment with the Faculty and Centre's strategic objectives and priorities
  • Leads the accreditation process in collaboration with the Directors of the Centre
  • Develops programs and activities to support the strategic direction of the SCSIL's Simulation on a Social Mission initiative
  • Designs and facilitates simulationbased faculty development activities
  • Participates in the Simulation Education Committee and the Simulation Management Committee

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum qualifications:
  • Medical Degree; or PhD or equivalent, or Master's degree (applied) in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Nursing. With experience and formal training in health professions simulation and a graduate degree in health professions education or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical work experience

Other Qualifying Skills and or Abilities:

  • Knowledge of instructional design considered a strong asset
  • A clinical background or experience in a clinical healthcare setting are greatly valued
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate multiple teams and complex activities
  • Familiarity with simulation modalities and equipment management
  • Excellent judgment, communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to multitask in a fastpaced environment. Ability to liaise with diverse populations including staff, learners, instructors and faculty from different clinical backgrounds. Demonstrated ability to develop creative solutions to highly complex problems

Salary:
Negotiable, according to qualifications and experience.
