Job description
We are a Scandinavian, sustainability-driven furniture brand and are looking for a furniture-focused expert to help us identify strong product niches in solid oak (massive wood) and high-quality plywood/multiplex.
This is not a classic, data-heavy market research project. We are not looking for long spreadsheets or generic trend summaries. We are looking for someone who truly understands furniture, materials, construction and design language. Ideally you have experience in furniture design, product development or deep expertise in the home & living niche.Important:
We already sell coffee tables, console tables, mirrors and side tables. We are not looking for ideas in these categories. The goal is to identify new, high-potential niches beyond our current assortment.
We expect a strategic evaluation of demand and competition across relevant marketplaces such as Etsy and other interior brands, as well as insights from social media and current design trends.
However, the outcome should not be raw data, but clear product directions that make sense from both a design and brand perspective.
Our brand positioning is Scandinavian/ Japandi, sustainable, made in Europe and produced in small family-run businesses. Any proposed niches should align with this positioning and offer strong differentiation potential.
The final deliverable should be a clear shortlist of the most promising niches, including an explanation of why they work, who the target customer is, the typical price range, the competitive landscape and how we could differentiate through design, material and brand story.
We are especially interested in candidates who have worked on furniture collections, understand solid wood and plywood construction and think in terms of cohesive product families rather than isolated items.
Please share relevant portfolio examples, your experience in the furniture niche, how you would approach this task and your estimated timeline and budget.
