The Role
Under the direction of the Manager of Early Learning and Child Care, the purpose of the Supervisor

  • Developmental Resource Consultants (DRC) is to oversee all ELCC DRC client and program activities. The Supervisor will support DRC staff, guide program development, monitor client files and performance, and ensure the DRC program is adaptable to meet the needs of Métis children and their families. This position will collaborate with the entire Education and Training management team as a primary participant in developing project work plans and partnering budgets. In addition, the Supervisor is responsible for promoting a health and safety culture at the MNO and handling employee relations issues, including but not limited to attendance, absenteeism, and accommodations. The Supervisor will provide varying support for all team members to ensure compliance with all MNO policies and procedures and meet work plan goals and deliverables.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Fully understand the significance and fundamental importance of MNO's Statement of Prime Purpose (SPP) to all MNO's work and to the requirements of the position specifically.
  • Adhere to MNO Policies and Procedures, MNO's Financial Policies and Procedures at all times, and Contribution Agreements (CA).
  • Uphold MNO's Standards of Professional Conduct at all times.
  • Adhere to Privacy Laws and respect confidential information at all times.
  • The Supervisor must be cognizant of the Ontario Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workers' Safety and Insurance Board, Ontario Human Rights Code, Canadian Human Rights Act, and other legislative provisions governing the employment relationship between MNO and the employee.
  • Work in collaboration within the Branch, other MNO branches, MNO leadership, MNO citizens, MNO contractors, and consultants on related projects.

The incumbent is responsible for the following items, as well as other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the People Leader:

Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • Will oversee the daily operations of the ELCC Developmental Resource Consultant Program.
  • Hire and train new team members.
  • Provide training on work culture, work expectations, job duties, and organizational policies and procedures or arrange for proper training to be provided.
  • Act as a role model for the behavior and culture expected from the team.
  • Provide ongoing coaching to support effective job performance and conduct constructive and timely performance evaluations at least once yearly.
  • Implement coaching and corrective performance plans where required.
  • Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Organize, plan, and supervise all functions of their employees.
  • Keep team members informed about rules, regulations, policies, and objectives.
  • Ensure proper maintenance, filing, and storage of records in case of audits.
  • Collaborate with the team to identify ways to improve department effectiveness; implements viable ideas.
  • Resolve conflicts among team members and/or other employees.
  • Hold additional Occupational Health and Safety responsibilities as required by law.

Developmental Resource Consultant Responsibilities:

  • Provide Resource Consultant expertise through demonstrated knowledge of child development, child care best practices, family dynamics, inclusive early learning, early childhood/special needs programming, the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 (CCEY), and the Child and Family Services Act (CFSA).
  • Provide consultation support to DRC staff, using the best practices of early intervention, guiding DRC staff to develop plans to target individual client needs and adapting program procedures to remain flexible.
