Summary:

Cumberland Paving and Contracting is part of Miller Paving Atlantic, based in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

Cumberland Paving and Contracting provides the public and private sectors with road construction, paving, road and structure rehabilitation, engineering construction, aggregate-based materials, highway operations, and maintenance services.


As a Foreperson, You Will:


  • Direct the activities and performance of crew and subcontractors
  • Ensure all products meet specifications
  • Perform administrative duties, including tracking quantities for production and payment
  • Manage client relationships in a professional and productive manner
  • Inspect and review work in progress and adjust accordingly
  • Be flexible with work assignments and resources such as equipment and materials
  • Conduct 'tail gate' safety talks with staff to review policies and practices
  • Ensure safety practices are followed by the crew
  • Review documents, ensuring accuracy and completion

What You'll Bring:


  • Mechanical inclination is an asset
  • 5 years' experience in asphalt, grade prep or other related activities. Some lead hand/supervisory experience is required
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to engage and manage the crew
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to operate in a fast paced and demanding environment in a safe and effective manner
  • Available to work extended hours and weekends, when required as well as travel, when required
