Medieval Times Toronto is looking for a seasoned RETAIL MANAGER to join our team


POSITION OVERVIEW:


The Retail Manager has authority and accountability for planning, directing, controlling and evaluating all activities of the Gift Shop, Merchandising and Photo areas of the castle.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Interviews and makes recommendations for hiring decisions for all Retail Team Members

Manages each employees training including, but not limited to, his or her understanding of their role in the show, castle policies procedures, and technical training

Schedules the Retail Team Members for each show according to the size and type of show, per Medieval Times staffing models

Manages scheduling and timekeeping procedures as established by GM

Ensures that RetailTeam Members are on time, in place, in costume and in character as required

Ensures Retail team members interact with the guests in character

Manages the Retail activities to achieve or surpass the sales per cap budget by adhering to the corporate sales strategy

Oversees management and maintenance of all POS terminals

Assures sales floor is fully stocked for all shows using planograms, fixturing, and signage provided by corporate

Conducts periodic physical inventory following established procedures as required

Suggests purchase orders to Corporate Buyer based on current sales trends

Follows established procedures for receiving merchandise

Assures Loss Prevention controls are in place per company policy to decrease shrinkage for inventory and arena selling

Oversees and maintains a clean and organized Stockroom, Sales Floor, and Workstations

Provides regular, timely, and continued performance feedback through coaching and development

Monitors labor costs and controls

Supports operations by handling customer problems and complaints as required

Assists with special functions, shows, groups and/or individual guests as required

Performs additional duties, as assigned


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

***Managerial skills ability to lead, coach and develop a team

Problem solving skills
- ability to communicate needs and issues

Ability to operate POS terminals and troubleshoot when necessary

Proficiency in Microsoft Office products

Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs

Excellent customer service skills

Ability to communicate with Management, Team Members and Guests

Ability to count money and calculate change

Physical ability to stand, walk and walk up and down stairs for extended periods

Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed


EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

***High School diploma required; Bachelors degree preferred

  • 5 years in a retail environment
1 -2 years supervisory experience
