Job Summary


Reporting to the Category Manager, the Procurement Specialist, Procurement and Supply Management is responsible for conducting all procurement activities necessary to deliver value on their category.

Main Responsibilities

Procurement Management - 100%

  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers (commercial & legal clauses)
  • Manage contracts, supplier relationships and supplier performance
  • Build and manage Request for Proposals, evaluate supplier responses and prepare business cases to submit for management approval
  • Interact with internal stakeholders, understand their needs and promote value creation
  • Conduct data analytics during different stages of the sourcing process
  • Develop category strategy and supplier market knowledge
  • Work with Buyers to ensure all rates and agreements are appropriately administered in the Purchase to Pay (P2P) process (i.e. SAP, Ariba, Fieldglass etc.)
  • Ensure that all internal requirements in terms of compliance to procurement policy are meet and addressed
  • Participate and support department wide projects when required
Working Conditions

The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. The role requires mínimal (0 to 20%) travel (infrequent and short trips). The role offers a hybrid work model where employees may work from home on Wednesdays and Fridays.


Requirements:

Experience

  • Between 2 to 3 years of experience in a similar role (Procurement Specialist)
Education/Certification/Designation

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or Law or equivalent

Technical Skills/Knowledge

  • Ability to read and understand basic contract documents
  • Ability to drive innovative analysis to understand the market trends, cost drivers, suppliers and best practices
  • Strong technical skills related to data tools & presentation of data
  • Understand strategic sourcing best practices
  • Understand P2P
  • Understand contract structure, terms and conditions and supplier performance principles
  • Basic understanding of Incoterms, Customs and documentation required for international imports.
  • Basic understanding of commercial aspects of product/service categories
  • Understand rail transportation or logistic industry
  • Any knowledge for any of the above would be considered as an asset

The Procurement Specialist interacts with individuals internal and external to CN. More specifically, the incumbent liaises with internal customers and suppliers.

Employees Supervised/Organizational Structure

The Procurement Specialist reports to the Category Manager and has no supervisory responsibility.
