    Job Summary


    The Manager, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) is responsible for guiding the execution and implementation of DE&I strategies across CN.

    The position supports the identification and rollout of action plans, ensures programs are aligned with creating a culture of inclusion, and that CN's workforce is representative of the communities in which it operates.

    Furthermore, the role assists in the tracking and communication of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to DE&I.

    Main Responsibilities

    Execute and Implement DE&I Strategies


    • Assist in the development of initiatives that mark significant cultural milestones in conjunction with internal stakeholders (e.g. Communications Hub)
    • Support the review of existing processes to identify unconscious biases and ensure that all established practices are aligned with the organizations DE&I strategy
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in the design and implementation of key DE&I programs (Corporate, Employee Resource Group initiatives)
    • Propose solutions to facilitate the piloting and execution of programs that will address concerns
    • Coach and support Human Resource Business Partners on building diversity plans and metrics
    • Ensure CN's DE&I webpage is up to date and curate appropriate content
    Manage DE&I Partnerships and Events


    • Research, coordinate and maintain key external partnerships and sponsorships
    • Act as CN's representative at various DE&I-related networks and associations across Canada and the US
    • Research events and conferences across Canada and the US and engage with all levels within the organization to encourage participation
    • Manage CN's participation in external contests to showcase diverse talent and collaborate with the managers of Talent and Human Resources to ensure that CN has appropriate diversity representation at events
    • Represent the team and CN on internal and external committees (e.g. ERG planning meetings)
    Measurement and Tracking


    • Analyze data on representative groups across the employee life cycle on a continual basis to identify trends of concern and pinpoint root causes of issues
    • Participate in the determination, tracking and measurement of KPIs for diversity, equity and inclusion
    • Assist with preparation of annual Employment Equity/EEOC reports
    Working Conditions

    The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. The role requires occasional travel (20%) across Canada and the US.

    Experience

    • Minimum 5 years of DE&I experience in a large organization
    o Demonstrated commitment to diversity and a clear understanding of the issues
    o Program and project management experience
    o Experience analyzing data and translating metrics into action plans
    o Experience prioritizing tasks
    o Experience motivating and influencing without authority
    o Experience facilitating discussions and presenting information to a varied audience

    Education/Certification/Designation


    • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Commerce, Communications, Administration or a related field
    • Certification in DE&I**Any designation for these above would be considered as an asset
