Dental milling technician
Location:
Edmonton
Experience: 5-10 years
Position Overview:
Responsibilities:
- Operate CAD/CAM milling machines to fabricate dental restorations, including crowns, bridges, veneers, and implant abutments, according to digital designs and specifications.
- Review digital scan data and design files to ensure accuracy and compatibility with milling equipment.
- Select appropriate materials, tools, and parameters for each milling job, considering factors such as material properties, restoration type, and patient preferences.
- Calibrate and maintain milling machines and related equipment to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
- Monitor milling processes, inspecting finished restorations for quality, fit, and aesthetics, and making adjustments as needed.
- Complete postprocessing tasks such as trimming, polishing, and staining to enhance the appearance and surface finish of restorations.
- Collaborate with dental technicians, ceramists, and other team members to coordinate workflows and ensure timely completion of orders.
- Maintain detailed records of milling activities, including job logs, materials usage, and equipment maintenance, in compliance with laboratory protocols.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a clean, organized, and hazardfree work environment.
- Stay updated on advancements in CAD/CAM technology, dental materials, and milling techniques through training and professional development.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Additional training or certification in dental technology or milling technology is preferred.
- Proven experience operating CAD/CAM milling machines in a dental laboratory or similar setting.
- Proficiency in dental CAD software (e.g., Exocad, 3Shape) and CAM software (e.g., Hyperdent, DentalCAM) for digital design and milling.
- Strong understanding of dental anatomy, occlusion, and esthetics, with the ability to interpret digital scans and design files.
- Excellent handeye coordination and manual dexterity for handling small tools and delicate materials.
- Attention to detail and quality, with a commitment to producing precise and aesthetically pleasing dental restorations.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fastpaced, deadlinedriven environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively with team members.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and techniques in dental milling.
- Flexibility to work evening or weekend shifts as needed to meet production demands.
Salary:
$15,000.00-$60,000.00 per month
