We are currently seeking a
Junior Hydrogeologist to join our Hydrogeology & Geothermal West team. This position is based in our Calgary, Edmonton, Cranbrook, Nelson, or Kelowna offices. However, consideration will be given to other locations where SNC-Lavalin has offices.


Our Hydrogeology & Geothermal team is one of the strongest teams in the country with many decades of combined experience in the fields, many of whom hold post-graduate degrees in hydrogeology.

Our cross-Canada team thrives in working in a team environment and are highly successful in collaborating.

Our team has a diverse skill set, including all facets of physical, chemical and contaminant hydrogeology, and we serve many sectors such as mining, oil and gas, transportation, governments, and municipalities.

FIELD OF STUDY:
Geology, Earth Sciences, Engineering


REQUIREMENTS:


  • A degree in geology, hydrogeology, geological engineering, civil engineering or other related discipline with relevant experience in hydrogeology. A postgraduate degree in hydrogeology is considered an asset.
  • Eligible to register as a Professional Engineer and/or Professional Geoscientist once required experience has been obtained.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment, including working with colleagues in different geographic regions.
  • Selfmotivated, high energy, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage time and multiple projects appropriately.
  • Developed technical writing skills. Experience in writing work plans and reports would be considered an asset.
  • Proven organizational, teambuilding, technical, leadership skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in the English language; French language skills are an asset.
  • Must be able and willing to travel for work away from the home office.
  • Good interpersonal skills combined with a positive, teamoriented attitude; and,
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's license.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The following experience is not essential but would be considered assets:

  • Experience in the environmental consulting industry with scoping and executing hydrogeological investigations including different drilling techniques, groundwater monitoring and sampling, and hydraulic testing.
  • Experience in one or more of the following service areas:
  • Mining, including permitting and environmental impact assessment;
  • Oil & Gas, including permitting and environmental impact assessment;
  • Drinking water supply and groundwater protection for industry or government;
  • Contaminated site assessment and remediation for all industry types, including but not limited to mining, oil and gas, transportation and government.
  • Numerical groundwater modelling skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and adaptability to working outdoors in a range of climates and in a range of industrial settings.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Hydrogeological field work, including groundwater sampling, slug testing, pumping tests and drilling; Surface water and seep sampling will also be conducted;
  • Supporting senior and intermediate staff in developing field programs and budgets;
  • Planning, coordination and support for the execution of field programs, including intrusive investigations;
