Description

• Work with natural stone and natural stone tiles to create or repair stone structures indoors or outdoors.
• Carving, cutting or shaping natural stones or natural stone tiles to fit the design using hand tools and specialized tools. This may involve chisels, saws, or electronic cutting equipment.
• Laying out natural stone pieces or natural stone tiles according to the design or pattern.
• Setting countertops, natural stones or natural stone tiles onto structures, ensuring they are level and securely placed.
• Preparing surfaces for natural stone pieces or natural stone tiles installation. This may include cleaning, smoothing, or creating a rough texture to enhance adherence.
• Load and unload trucks with stone supplies and equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications.
• Follow safety protocols.
• Estimate materials, labour, tools and equipment.
• Lay bricks, stone or similar materials to provide veneer facing.
• Construct and install prefabricated masonry units.
• Build patios, garden walls and other decorative installations.
• Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages.
• Cut and trim bricks and concrete blocks to specification using hand and power tools.
• Lay bricks or other masonry units to build residential or commercial chimneys and fireplaces.
• Operate machines to grind and polish surfaces of stone blocks, slabs or other stone products to specific shape or design and to produce a smooth finish.
• Operate blade or wire saws to cut blocks of stone to specified dimensions.
• Produce carvings from wood, stone and other materials.
• Finish stone products with spray paint and by mounting plaques or installing concrete bases.
• Operate stonedressing lathe to sharpen and dress grindstones that grind logs into pulp.
• Operate machines to drill holes in blocks or slabs of stone according to specifications.

• English (basic). More English is an asset.

• At least 3 years of fulltime experience. More experience is an asset.

• Formal education is not required. High school or more education is an asset.
