Summary
This position serves the core operational goals of the FAFM, to raise funds in support of CFPC's priority initiatives as well as in support of initiatives serving the advancement of family medicine externally to the CFPC.
Working closely with the Executive Director, the Philanthropy Officer serves the FAFM in a full range of development functions including prospect research, cultivating new, prospective donors, encouraging efforts for current donors, connecting with professional advisers, other door openers and donor stewardship to reach annual and long-range development goals.
This position requires maintaining and evolving our development program that is opportunistic in its approach by adapting to changing needs in family medicine.
Working independently, representing the FAFM with our donor communities and serving as a team member, this position provides significant support to the growth of the FAFM.
More specifically, the Philanthropy Officer contributes to the design of the annual development plan and is responsible for leading its implementation and monitoring.
Main responsibilities include the following but are not limited to:
- Identifies, cultivates, and secures funding for current and future initiatives and other areas that will positively impact the Foundation's goals. Contributes to the design, implementation, and execution of all fundraising activities.
- Prospects research.
- Writes of cases for support, and correspondence related to fundraising solicitations and donor stewardship.
- Utilizes moves management to cultivate, solicit and steward donors and gifts.
- Manages a portfolio of donors providing recurring annual gifts.
- Assumes direct responsibility for the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors giving through discreet solicitations and vehicles.
- Works in close collaboration with the Executive Director to enable comprehensive monitoring of strategies and results.
- Manages ongoing and special fundraising activities, such as the annual giving campaign and adhoc appeals.
- Develops grant proposals.
- Drafts donor/grantor reports as required.
- Demonstrates behaviors aligned with the CFPC Values in Action, to which the FAFM subscribes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Humanities or business.
- Post
- Secondary Fundraising Management certificate preferred.
- 5 years of experience, engaging personally with donors and building connections resulting in positive measurable results
- Broad experience dealing with donors in a variety of work and social settings.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to express ideas and opinions clearly and effectively in English.
