Job Summary:

The Category Analyst will draw upon diverse datapoints to drive decisions related to sales, marketing, and other business operations.

The role is responsible for a range of duties related to analytics, reporting, retailer-scorecards, market purchase modelling and evaluations, consumer insights, and industry trends.

The individual will compile and present business insights and predictive analytics, interpreting that data to help inform organizational strategy and choices.

This role leads to deep expertise in their particular category(s), and also develops proficient knowledge relative to competitors and the industry in general.

This role will support the Sales, Planning and Procurement functions of the company, and work towards enhancing decisions based on consumer and industry trends.


Responsibilities:


  • Mine and aggregate large amounts of data to determine industry and retail trends including (but not limited to); syndicated data, retail sales data, shopper loyalty card data, and various industry data.
  • Proactively analyze above data sources to build presentations that provide timely, valueadded insights and recommendations to the retail customer to evaluate partnerships and achieve category and customer objectives.
  • Partner with internal Sales and Marketing teams to deliver insights and recommendations to retail customers (occasional travel required)
  • Create standardized category reports for internal Sales team and update monthly.
  • Address ad hoc requests from retailers and or internal customers in timely manner.
  • Analyze category trends to provide recommendations on short term and longterm plantings.
  • Perform internal and external analysis, including but not limited to, retail, consumer, economic and overall category trends to provide leadership on category plans and strategic decisions.
  • Build and prove a modeling system that supports endtoend synchronization of product movement.
  • Provide analytics that contain user friendly visuals and graphs.
  • Build customizable reports for other teammembers.
  • Develop and promote strong business acumen as well as training and development programs for all colleagues.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (required).
  • Experience with data mining and exposure to third party data including; IRI, Nielsen, 84.5
  • Advanced Microsoft (MS) Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) skills required; demonstrated ability to
- produce presentations, spreadsheets, graphs, and charts for high impact visual stories

  • Valid Passport and ability to travel outside Canada
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and strong analytical skills for forecasting, consolidation of data and financial analysis.
  • Must be an influential leader with a collaborative management style and ability to motivate others, fostering an environment of continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to work in a fastpaced environment, demonstrate keen attention to detail and taskrelated accuracy, as well as consistent followthrough skills.

Work Environment:


  • Hours of work may vary depending on business needs; flexibility is required.
  • Role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
