Posting Overview:


The Lambton Kent District School Board provides educational services to more than 21,700 students in 62 elementary and secondary schools.


Reporting to the Manager of Financial Services, the Payroll Supervisor will primarily be responsible for supervision of payroll staff, supervision and support of all payroll processes and activities to ensure successful management of payroll production for approximately 3,000 employees.


Qualifications/Experience:

- three year post-secondary education (diploma/degree) in Business Administration or Accounting related discipline; related education and experience would be considered;

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required;
  • Payroll designation is an asset;
- at least three years of experience in a payroll processing environment with supervisory experience.


Other Key Skills & Knowledge:

- thorough knowledge of all relevant financial and payroll related functions; applicable provincial and federal legislation; Board employment contracts, pension legislation etc.;
- maintaining and managing the computerized payroll system; experience with Edsembli payroll an asset; other related systems would be considered;
- coordinating, scheduling, balancing, troubleshooting, processing, payroll production;
- compiling and preparing payroll and other related reports on a strict deadline;
- utilizing Crystal Reports for reporting information stored in the Edsembli system;
- database knowledge is an asset;
- demonstrated leadership and team player qualities;
- supervisory skills in order to plan, organize, schedule work assignments; select, orient, train, evaluate and discipline employees;
excellent communication and interpersonal skills, in order to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
- maintain positive relationships with all levels within the Board;
- excellent leadership and team development skills are required to supervise and monitor the work of the payroll department;
- all other duties as assigned by the Manager of Financial Services.


Position Effective Date & Length:

Full-time, 35 hours/week, Non-Union position. Located at the Sarnia Education Centre.


Salary:
$82,531/annum - $91,701/annum

Pension and benefits will be provided in accordance with Board regulations.
