  • Rainy River Mine
    Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.

    The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer.     About The Role

    Position Reports To: Exploration Manager

    Position Overview:

    Reporting to the Exploration Manager, the position is responsible for core logging and supervising core sampling as well as field mapping and prospecting activities. He/she will work in collaboration with the Open Pit and the Underground geology team to provide support when required. He/she will ensure the team is focused completing the priority tasks while working in a safe manner and to the expected standard.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Core logging and supervising core sampling.
  • Geological interpretation and contribute to exploration target generation.
  • Assisting and implementing programs in the following areas: prospecting and soil sampling, mapping, and drillhole planning.
  • Supervising field drilling activities and ensuring the contractor is compliant with Rainy River H&S policies.
  • Ensure the QAQC protocols are in place and followed by the sampling team and monitor QAQC results.
  • Managing database integrity and ensuring all logging data and other field data are properly integrated.
  • Reporting of geological activities.
  • Contributing to the development of policies and procedures.
  • Assist the other Geology departments (production open pit and underground) as required.
  • Qualifications

  • 4 Year University geology program. Graduated Honours degree or equivalent
  • Registered or able to register as a P. Geo in Ontario, Canada
  • Minimum of 1 years of Exploration experience
  • Valid Driver's license
  • Experience with Leapfrog is an asset
  • Strong interdepartmental communication skills
  • Able to change and re-prioritize tasks as new information is gathered
  • Strong ability to self-learn
  • Able to work independently or within groups
