    Description:

    ConocoPhillips Canada (CPC) is currently recruiting a Bitumen Train and Wells Contact Engineer to join our Surmont Operations team. Reporting to the Calgary-based Production Delivery Supervisor, this position is based out of the Surmont field office on a 14/14 rotational schedule, with flight coverage and camp accommodation provided.

    Focusing on bitumen train optimization and field production engineering, this role will closely partner with production engineers, production delivery optimization engineers, facility engineers, field superintendents and control room operators. With an aim to help optimize day-to-day operation of the wells and partner with operations to advance the bitumen treating train, a thorough understanding of the overall operation of a SAGD facility is paramount, including detailed wells and facility engineering knowledge. Our successful candidate will play a critical role in coordination across organizational boundaries, where leadership and interpersonal skills are key.

    This is an excellent development opportunity for an engineer who is interested in leading a high value, high exposure role, while also expanding their expertise in several areas of field operations.

    Responsibilities:

    • Lead daily operations meeting (Plan of the Day)
    • Real time support for operations including troubleshooting wells and bitumen treating
    • Work closely with production engineers to optimize and troubleshoot wells
    • Be ready to own the Event Management process for large-scale issue coordination, communication, and resolution if necessary
    • Proactively develop operational plans or identify threats within the Integrated Plan
    • Work with control panel operators on automation, setpoint changes, chemical dosing
    • Work with field operations to troubleshoot well facility issues
    • Identify and propose opportunities to optimize production and reduce operating costs.
    • Work with production delivery engineer in Calgary on alignment of commercial forecast, losses and potential bottlenecks
    • Ensure sales oil quality specifications at custody transfer

    Required Qualifications:

    • Degree in Engineering from an APEGA recognized institution.
    • 8 years in an oil and gas engineering role with at least 5 in SAGD production
    • Strong commitment to ConocoPhillips Canada's SPIRIT values and HSE philosophy
    • Strong team player.
    • Legally authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis without restrictions.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Understanding of SAGD production and facilities.
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Self-starter, willing to work independently and across organizational boundaries.
    • Strong commitment to safety and support of CPC core values.
    • Production/facility Engineering and/or field operations experience.
