The Guelph Black Heritage Society (GBHS) Heritage Hall Program Co-ordinator will support several initiatives that continue to build the remarkable influence of the Black community on the quality of life in Guelph-Wellington County.

Some of the key projects that the Program Co-ordinator will be involved with are:

  • Develop and coordinate events and activities for Phoenix Seniors Social Club and Dream Makers Youth Programming
  • Provide tours of the Heritage Hall and assist patrons at the Flora Blizzard Francis Memorial Library of Black Literature.
  • Assist with events and community use of the Heritage Hall.
  • Social media promotion of Phoenix Seniors Social Club, Dream Makers Youth Program, Heritage Hall for Community Use, Heritage Hall Tours and Flora Blizzard Francis Memorial Library of Black Literature.
Knowledge and Experiences that are required include the following:

  • Working knowledge of Black, racialized and diverse cultures and worldviews
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Proven technical skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media platforms and Canva
  • Ability to manage multiple activities or projects simultaneously
  • Familiarity with teleconferencing technology (Microsoft Teams, Zoom)
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Experience working with African, Caribbean, Black seniors and youth.
  • Knowledge of fitness, nutrition and cultural foods of the African Diaspora


In addition, the GBHS Program Co-ordinator should demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to learn quickly, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.


Job Type:
Part-time


Salary:
$17.00 per hour

  • Guelph, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Education:


  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

Experience:


  • Administrative experience: 2 years (required)
