Job Purpose
The Mechanical Trades Coordinator is primarily responsible for leading the work face execution of safe and efficient work for a variety of projects and maintenance activities at the
LNGC Site


Responsibilities

  • Embraces and demonstrates a continuous commitment to Waiward's incidentfree vision, values, and culture through a "lead by example" approach;
  • Provide leadership that results in a safe work culture. The Mechanical Trades Coordinator is responsible and accountable for the safety of the crew's workface execution, under their direction and leadership;
  • Knowledge of the Waiward HSE Manual and requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
  • Know and understand the clients EH&S regulations and policies;
  • Positively encourage and participate in the Waiward HSE Program(s) including Nobody Gets Hurt and Pause & Assess, through ongoing positive encouragement as well as active participation.
  • Work with site/project scheduler and participate in the development of execution schedules.
  • Responsible to help develop/review detailed execution plans for both Maintenance and Project work;
  • Identify the crews needs for safety equipment;
  • Participate in and monitor toolbox talks, weekly safety meetings, and when requested by Superintendent, chair meetings;
  • Involvement in any daytoday disciplinary decisions and those additional discipline actions deemed appropriate;
  • Assess competency and capability of foreman and tradespersons; evaluating crew capability, training, coaching to ensure that the crew meets required levels of quality;
  • Recognize, address, and resolve issues and problems among/between crew(s);
  • Set and maintain work standards and outlining behavioral expectations to ensure positive crew moral and optimal productivity.
  • Work with Site Superintendent to ensure equipment and vehicle maintenance and vehicle logs are up to date and maintained;
  • Follow project plans and schedules to ensure that crews under their direction perform daily and weekly activities to meet production goals;
  • Identify needs and deficiencies in the look ahead plan/schedule and communicate these to the appropriate persons;
  • Translate general work requirements into a prioritized work plan for each crew;
  • Review and adjust specific workface activities and tasks scheduled to meet established production schedules;
  • Champion a labour relations culture and adhere to labour relations policies and procedures by the crews under your direction. Support and provide information and leadership to the Foreperson as it relates to them meeting their labour relations responsibilities;
  • Know and understand collective and/or PLA agreements for your site/s;
  • Promote, support, and facilitate teamwork by promoting and fostering a positive, viable teamwork attitude among all projects and Waiward crews regardless of craft makeup;
  • Ensure the work done meets standards and codes and that the implementation of work processes improve productivity and product quality;
  • Preparation of reports and review of Foremen's reports as required by Waiward;
  • Responsible for ensuring Time Sheet Process is understood and executed by all craft supervision in a timely manner; reviews for accuracy/completeness and provides coaching and mentoring as required.
  • Reviews and becomes familiar with the governing site contract and how it applies to Waiward's responsibilities pertaining to field execution.
